Light

This is a great example of a matboard cut where Marvin did the drawing, and then using an exacto knife with a broken piece of razor blade in place of the standard blade, he sliced out layers of matboard material, leaving the lines of the drawing. This technique forced him to go for a bolder look, and not use such tiny lines like in the linoleum block prints. He enjoyed the funny textures that would happen when ink got onto the inner layers of matboard.

I’ve started matting “Light” with “Sound”… They were done at the same time, and seem to belong together.
