One of the very first dimensional piece, and part of Marvin’s graduate show called “Comets and Ghosts”. The background was a print from a plain ol’ piece of plywood with comets carved in and the rest the natural wood texture.
Marvin read a story written by a man, I can almost think of his name, who was African and did not know English very well. The story was about coming home late and being so afraid that every touch of a branch on his sleeve was a menacing creature, so he threw his shawl over his head believing that if he was unable to see then he must be invisible.
