Sitting at an art fair, Marvin was carving away on a little lino block he’d brought along. He turns to me and says “I’m feeling foolish today”, and I looked at the block in his hand and burst out laughing. I love this image because of all the contradictions in one little picture… the fool with the most serious look on his face, and those glasses! It’s really a perfect self-portrait.
