As a young lad Marvin launched in to reading the entire Encyclopedia Brittanica, but only got so far as ECHIDNA (spiny anteater), and the little illustration stuck in his mind and became a character named “Sammy”. This funny little print was carved from an old floor tile in his studio in the 3rd Ward in Milwaukee. Of course everyone knows echidnas speak in hyroglyphs!
