I laughed, cried, and then laughed again when I first saw this piece, and we’ve had the same mixed reaction from our customers. Marvin carved this piece with me in mind, not long after my mother had passed.
More than once I’ve gotten into great discussions with folks regarding their own mother-daughter relationships. It seems to say different things to different people — for me, it says my mother is now beyond any further harm from me, real or imagined.
Originals are sold out, but I have nice, matted reproductions!
