Like so many of the dream images, Marvin didn’t try to “explain” what this one meant, or where it came from. The idea might have come from a passage in a book, which took shape as an illustration in his conscious mind, and then found its way onto a block of linoleum as a drawing, and then a carved image, and then a printed piece of paper. It was after he’d finished this piece he became to understand it was part of the Dream Tarot.
