The first in the final rendition of an epic dream Marvin had where his grandfather, Jack, brings him a black bird — a message. The bird eludes him, he pursues and finally captures it, brings it back to his grandfather who has become more transparent and ghostly. Marvin woke and was trying to interpret the dream when the black bird flew in our window, and he realized he was still dreaming and really woke up.
This dream went through many evolutions. First they were each done as little woodcuts, then as dimensional stencils in plexi boxes, then finally as the dimensional linocuts you see here.
